Whether sharks will go extinct anytime soon depends on whether humans continue to pressure them with overfishing.
According to all scientific predictions, within the next billion years life on Earth will cease to exist because the Sun will begin to run out of fuel and thus it will expand, overheating the Earth. If this happens, then sharks will become extinct by then if not before.
