Where is the battery for the living quarters on steamworks island?

You use the same Steam Battery to open the two doors (Sully, Living Quarters) and lower the bridge. But in each case you still need the key. Sully's key is in the Robot Crab, the Bridge Key is in Ziggs' room atop the Hub, and the Living Quarters key is (perversely) in a closet at the Research Lab all the way to the right of the island. Getting to it is more than half of the quest.(see the related questions)

Where do you get the mech crank on steamworks island?

It is by the "tightrope" vines at upper left past the Living Quarters. The only way to get there is through the quarters using the key, which is in a closet all the way across the island in the Research labs. (see related question)

Where is the key to start the steam terminal on Steamworks island?

The terminal at the Living Quarters will open using the Steam Battery, in the same way that you open Sully's, except that the connectors must equal -3 instead of -5. To use the terminal, you need to get the key, which is far away on the right side of the island, in a closet at the Greenhouse of the Production zone (Botanical Research Laboaratory). You will need to get the Bridge Key from Captain Ziggs' quarters atop the Hub, and then go through the Research labs to find the key. There are four essentials : get the vine from the top of the building left of the Living Quarters, reactivate Sprocket in Sully's, get the rubber mallet from Sully's, and get the Dirty Beaker from inside the Museum. You could also enter the Mayor's office, but only to get the code number, which is 0516.

What do you do with the mech crank on Steamworks Island?

The Mech Crank and the Mech steam motor are needed to complete the Mech walker that is in the garage next to Sully's. It was being rebuilt by Zack. The Mech motor is at the far right in the production zone. (Farther up is the Living Quarters key, in a closet behind the monster plant.) You will need the dirty beaker from the Museum and the Rubber Mallet from Sully's trash box. Once you have the motor and the Living Quarters key, get the Mech crank from the vines above and left of the Living Quarters, and you can rebuild the Mech. Its Weed Wacker is the only way to enter the storage rooms at the far left.

How do you get in the door to gear alley on steamworks island?

Gear Alley is the location of the Living Quarters. --- One of the two parts you need to recover, the Mech Crank, is visible at the far upper left of the annex, to the left of the Living Quarters. It is atop some vines. However, there is no way to reach it from the outside. You will need to recover the Living Quarters key, which is in the greenhouse at the Research Lab at the other extreme of the island, the farthest area to the right. This is more than half of the island quest. Once you have the key, you can proceed through the Living Quarters and walk the "tightrope" from the door near the roof. With the Crank and the Steam Motor (which is also in the Research Lab), you can complete the Mech walker that is in the garage next to Sully's shop. (You can follow the related question for the entire process.)

How do you get the mech crank on poptropica steamworks island?

The Mech Crank is at the far upper left on the island, and you cannot reach it except by going through the Living Quarters. To get the key, you will have to get the robot crab and Sully's key, and the vine nearby on the roof. Get the beaker from upstairs in the Gear Shop, then solve the Hub to get the bridge key. The Living Quarters key is in a closet behind a carnivorous plant in the Research Center, once you have mixed and used a herbicide in the beaker. (see solution question)
