There are only 5 official maps in Left 4 Dead, 4 campaign maps and 1 special "Survival" map.
Valve released the SDK (Source Developer's Kit) for Left 4 Dead on April 21st, 2009, so custom campaigns and survival maps should surface soon.
There are also "modded" servers for the regular Valve campaigns. These servers often have special settings, such as low gravity, tougher Zombies, infinite ammo, etc.
