Ghana uses PAL 50Hz television standards while North America uses NTSC 60Hz. Although some US televisions will operate on 50Hz and PAL color systems, by no means all of them will. It will be much safer to buy locally or at least to buy in Europe where PAL 50Hz standards are used. There are methods to use North American televisions on European signals but they tend to be cumbersome and expensive.

Jackie Appiah (her professional name) is a well-respected actress in Ghana. Born in Canada, she and her family moved to Ghana when she was ten. She married in 2005 and her legal name is Jackie Agyemang, but she continues to use her maiden name in her films, as do many actresses. She has appeared in both TV shows and in movies, and is considered one of Ghana's most popular actresses: in early July 2013, for example, she was named Best Actress at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.
