Roadhaus specialializes in VW repair and they are located just outside of Modesto. They have ASE certified mechanics and can troubleshoot anything that is wrong with your VW.
the metal fuel line as it goes under the car is not replacable. It is welded on I think. You need to take the car to a car repair place that specializes in VWs, they will bend a metal fuel line to fit. The Dealer will not customize a repair. I have found that the dealers in my area know less about the CIS fuel system than I do and this is my first car with this system. The flexible hoses can be found in a salvage yard or custom made. Google on "vw fuel hose" or something similar, there are some 3rd party places that sell them on the internet. The best way to keep an 87 running is to find a mechanic that works on older vws. The Dealers' mechanics are usually too young to have been trained on the early fuel injection systems.
The wolfsburg edition VWs were made in Wolfsburg Germany
On VWs trunk light may need to have headlights on to operate.
VWs reliability ratings are behind just about all other manufacturers
Most late model VWs and BMWs require a special reset tool.
Well this is primarily an opinion on my part (partial to Japanese cars) but Hondas have a far greater reliability than VWs. So even if it does cost more to fix a Honda, which i don't believe it does, once it will cost less than fixing the VW multiple times because of their reliability issues. Also i truly believe that VWs cost more to fix. European... Also hondas are lighter and get better gas mileage. Agreed Hondas are by far more popular so there is more OEM and Aftermarket Parts for them!!
VWs some had Beetles whiles most top officers had VW Convertibles
On my VWs I change the OHC belt at 80K miles and retension every 15K miles on the older units. VW generally recommends 100K miles. On my VWs I change the OHC belt at 80K miles and retension every 15K miles on the older units. VW generally recommends 100K miles.
All aircooled VWs have the same firing order: 1-4-3-2
My 2001 Beetle needs an AC compressor. They always replace an extra part or two as well -- the receiver/drier or a new belt. The dealer wants $1600 to do the job. Another shop specializing in VWs wants $1150. I'm hoping to find a less expensive compressor somewhere -- maybe a remanufactured one.
it is based on wind names like a lot of VWs. Golf being based on the gulf stream. Polo on the Polar Wind.
Most Audis and Mercedes use this bolt pattern. The only VWs that use this bolt pattern are the Passat, the Eurovan and older Vanagons.
