It's about 650 miles long, with most of its course in Tennessee.

The Tennessee river starts at Knoxville, TN, where the French Broad and Holston rivers meet.

It then runs southwest toward Chattanooga. Just after that, it goes into Alabama to the border with Mississippi (state), then goes back into Tennessee.

From there, it runs north through Tennessee into Kentucky. At Paducah, Kentucky, it flows into the Ohio river.
