If you look at a map you would notice that a bridge form Norfolk, VA to Corolla, NC would not work.
However there is still continued talks about building a bridge from Aydlett, NC to Corolla, NC. The Drift Environmental Impact Study has been issued for the project and the hope to have the final EIS done by the end of this year. If everything goes as the NC Turnpike Authority plans, then construction will begin with in the next 6 - 18 months.
