No, there is no chime, which sucks because i left my lights on and killed my battery.
The '92 European version does have the chime, and as far as i know all European version have the chime
There is a way to install a $3 relay under the dash that ties the "key still in ignition" beeper to the headlights. That is, when the headlights are on they activate the installed relay that activates the switch in the ignition keyswitch. The car thinks the key is still in the ignition and beeps when the door is opened. It is simple, elegant, takes a few minutes to install, and I have not killed a battery once since installing it. Search the internet for the install instructions. Three wires. The relay coil goes from ground to a signal from the headlight switch. The switch contacts go from same ground to the appropriate wire of the ignition switch. Signals can be found using a schematic if you can't find instructions on the net. The relay is a 12V reed relay from The Shack.
