In some cars a code must be entered once power has been cut off from the radio to get it to work again. What kind of car are you working on?
If the battery is disconnected there is probably a code that needs to be entered before it will work again. Check the glove box, or the owners manual for the radio code. If it is the radio that came with the car the code should be somewhere in the paperwork.
You need to enter the code into the radio.
The 2005 comes with a five digit (all numbers) code. After the battery is replaced, turn on the radio. The radio should show "Code." Simply punch in the five numbers on the turning buttons and the radio will immediately start working.
The possessive form of the singular noun radio is radio's.Example: The radio's battery needs replacing.

you can hook a car radio directly to a car battery or even a car battery charger with out problems, I have done it myself, the only thing to remember is that it needs to have 12 volts and the polarity (+ -) needs to be correct.
You will have to reprogram all the preset radio stations ( if that is what you are referring to ? )
the radio needs to be fixed or replaced
with the motor running and radio off press buttons 1 and 4 on the radio this should unlock the radio
I have Ford Ranger 2004 Model my battery was flat now my radio cant play it says it needs a code.
While the car is running the alternator should be recharging the battery faster than stereo can drain it. I suspect you either have a problem with the alternator or its time to get your battery replaced. Until you get it fixed, if you don't turn on the radio, it wont drain your battery :) If it is a high power model, it needs to be wired directly to the battery.
all European PT Cruisers have a radio unlock code that needs to be entered in the event the radio loses power. USA domestic PT Cruisers do not have a radio code
