If you want to sell it to someone else later they might not want it. I have mine engraved though.

If you are having ipod problems i would go to best buy or where ever you got your ipod from and tell them your problems with your ipod and see if they can fix it for you of exchange it for something else.
You have to get it 'engraved.' I know you can do this when you buy it, Im not sure about after it is purchased. I would take it to the apple store!
