I do not suggest this, however-- Compressing commonly accessed data, such as system files will lead to a very significant drop in performance. I've seen younger people doing this to their computers as a means of freeing up a bit more space. While this works, you will eventually cripple your machine.
The harddrive is the size of a standard notebook harddrive not a PC size harddrive. So you can not fit it in the smaller spot required for the notebook size harddrive
