My 2000 VW beetle was taken into the shop about a month ago for a new transmission. After 3 weeks, it was finally fixed, but the radio and tape player will not play any music OR sound. I don't believe it's the fuse b/c the radio display will turn on just not play any music or change stations.
I had the same problem when I installed a new after market SONY CD/radio. If yours is the New Beetle check the 25 AMP fuse in the fuse box on the drivers side where the door connects to the dash. It is fuse # 42 (or the only 25Amp fuse on the 3rd row up from the bottom. You can get a pack of 5 of this fuses at the auto parts store (ex Advanced Auto) If the 25 Amp is okay, check the 10 Amp #37 on the bottom row.
As far as I know you must have the Vin number and the radio serial number. Both of these numbers have to be submitted by an authorized VW dealer through VW Hub to get a theft code.

I was able to stop power to my malfunctioning windows by removing the "metal fuse" as detailed here. http://www.passatworld.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2501518
Where is the relay for the drivers window in a 2004 vw bug

the power windows fuse is fuse 14 the panel says back up lights but its also for the power windows
Not unless it has electric steering. If it is manual with a pump there is no fuse.
Check the fuse for the interior lights. Nick
the power windows fuse is fuse 14 the panel says back up lights but its also for the power windows. It worked for me! You will notice the interior light might not be working as well as the power windows. Take a 10 amp little fuse and try in space 14. Good luck great answer, i was looking in the wrong spot. it took our auto windows, boot lamp, remote key access
Yes, there is a fuse for the windows and the heated seats in this car. For a person to find it, they would have to look at the fuse section of the owners manual.
To my knowledge there never was a 1982 VW Fox cabby, Foxes were imported from Brazil starting in 1987. In the US I remember test driving a VW Fox wagon just before I bought my 1986 Hyundai Excel. Should have bought the Fox. And as far as I can remember, there was never a convertible Fox. Just a coupe, sedan and wagon.
Underneath the steering wheel...should be a sticker. If not, register at www.vwvortex.com
The fuse for power windows on my 1995 Golf Cabrio is Fuse 14 (10A) and is labelled Backup Lights (yes, backup lights) on the fuse panel.
Check wiring in door jam to door.
