Is there a headlight sensor on a 1995 Buick Century and where is it?

There is a sensor near the middle of the windshield under the defroster grill, which senses whether it's light or dark. It does not adjust high or low beams for oncoming cars. ----------->> 9-7-06 Thanks for the info ! I have been wondering this for years on mine.
