The legal desciption is you may only run a red light if the light is one with either a weight sensor or a motion sensor. You also have to weight two cycles of a normal light time wich is about 2 minutes, and one more important factor is if you have a reck going through the light it's your fault!!!!!
If the night running lights have failed the bulbs should be checked. Find the bulb housings and remove the parts. After the bulbs are replaced check the lights.

Depends if you have the ignition running or just the say you left the lights on. If you just left the ignition on all night nothing will happen except just running out of fuel. If you left your lights on without ignition running your battery will die.
Helicopters have lights because of night operations. In the city they air lift people to the hospital, sometimes at night, so the helicopters can hit buildings at night without the lights. All aircraft have 'running lights' on them. That is so other aircraft can see them and tell which direction they are traveling.
Check your fuses for these lights. If there is not one blown, you may have to check for a short in a wire.
Most vechicles built after a certain date by law are required to have daytime running lights and it's a good thing ...if you ever see a car comming toward you in the evening with no lights on and the car behind has it's running lights on the difference is well....night and day and it might just save someons life. most all motorcycles from way back in the 1980's have daytime running lights on , this was way befor car manufactures started doing it. chet2010
A minor violation of the law is just a petty crime, like littering, jaywalking, graffiti, running red-lights or stop signs.
