Not a federal law, but many states (especially those which have suffered natural disasters) have passed laws which limit the amount of profit which can be made by selling 'essential' supplies to the survivors. I know that Florida is one such state and believe that there are others.

I'm not sure if there is a law or not. It is usually against the clu by-laws. The reason is because it creates a conflict of interest and opens the door to unsavory types of transactions. Wheter they actually occur or not is really irrelevant, the fact is that the opportunity is there and others will assume the worst. So, I'm not sure if there is a law against it, but it is something that I personally would stay away from.
