A fulltime student just goes to school, a working student has a job.

Good question! I don't know! the idea is so that we learn and get actual practice outside of the classroom, but honestly, teachers take it way too far and they are working us more than a fulltime job would work an employee

An employer does not have to pay a full time employee if there is no work. The employer can lay off the employee. It happens all the time. Sometimes when there is no work, the employer keeps the full time employees working doing maintenance work so that he will have a trained staff when business picks up. Sometimes he has them take a paid vacation when there is no work so they will be back when there is work. Sometimes he just lays them off, at which point they stop being employees and are not paid.
Regardless of the working condition contract, all employers must comply with OSHA regulations. And contracts may differ depending on the position of the employee.
An employee should have knowledge and skills in the field in which they are working. If the person is working with the public they will need to have speaking skills.

Well, that's not usually the termonology used, but employees can be promoted, and they can be demoted. It's not uncommon if an employee is not working out in the new position, for him or her to be demoted back to the previous position. As long as this is done because of the employee's performance, and not due to their race, color, religion, sex, national ancestry, pregnancy, disability status or age (over 40), it's probably legal.
