Yes...check out welbutrin...it actually might cause weight loss...been on so many meds...it is unreal...this is the newest one they put me on...been on 16 different kinds...seems to be helping...only 3 weeks out of the funny farm this time...guess too early to see..but check it out....I am for real.....so check out that med...also they put me on Topamax for weight losstoo...because for my job I need to be thin...check out that one too...good luck..
There is a medication for Bipolar disorder that does not cause weight gain. There are some side effects which are reported "tolerable" by the patients. The medication is called: Lamotrigine, which has been quite effective. Lithium has also been fairly well tolerated, but most patients end up adding Lamictal as a "mood lifter" in combination with the Lithium. I am not aware of Lithium causing any weight gain, and I take it myself.
Please be aware if taking Lamictal of any rash you develop. This may be a sign if Steven Johnson's Syndrom, a severely life threating disease.

No medication can be safely taken when consuming alcohol because alcohol impairs judgement and that can lead to misdosing and or drug interactions that cause further impairment. ANd, if you are bipolar, you should not be drinking alcohol anyway, Maybe try and figure out why you want a drink when that is a contriutor to bipolar and will make it worse.
