there is a low pressure swithc that closes at 5 psi and moves the oil pressure gauge on the insterment cluster. but when you get low on oil volume on the diesel the engine will quit running because it can nolonger fire the injectors. gas engine is has the same switch and cluster set up

There is no safety switch that can be operated manually . The engine does however have a fuel cutoff switch integrated in to the oil pressure switch/sending unit that shuts off the fuel pump to protect the engine in case of loss of oil pressure.
