This is called the Fontanelle and is a gap in the bones of the top of the skull. When a baby passes through the birth canal the skull bones overlap each other like rose petals,During early life the skull bones unite along sutures and the fontanelle usually closes completely.You may be a rare case of this not completely finishing. The brain is protected by a tough membrane called the Dura with a layer of skin on top. It is unlikely to give you trouble but I would mention it to a medic next time you visit .
