if you can run the tank low. pour a couple of bottles of rubbing alcohol in the tank. this will mix with the water, making it burnable. finish filling the tank with diesel. then plow your heart out . . some fuel tanks have a drain on the bottom and you can remove and drain fuel, and open the water separator drain on the filter housing. i would change the fuel filters and fill with clean diesel. you can also remove the fuel line after the pump to let it pump the tank dry or just drop the fuel tank and clean it out like that I WOULD NOT USE ALCOHOL TO MAKE WATER MIX AND GO THROUGH A DIESEL ENGINE LIKE YOU WOULD WITH A GAS ENGINE. More information as to what you are working on would allow for a more detailed answer. coop. Hi there Water in the diesel or what is sometimes known as 'diesel bug' can be an issue in most cases its simply involves undoing a drain plug on the diesel fuel filter, there is also a great product which can prevent this and also improves performance and prevents such problems occuring in the first place more can be found on this here http://www.aquasolve.co.uk
