It is in the lower radiator hose

Follow the upper radiator hose to the engine. The housing that it connects to on the engine houses the thermostat. Remove the hose and the housing and it's a piece of cake from there. Don't forget to replace the gasket! follow the coolant tube that goes on the side of the oil pan to the back of the engine its under the exhaust manifold u have to take the tube off theres one bolt on the side of the oil pan and two small bolts that go to the water pump on the back of the engine
If it's the larger hose(pressure hose) it has to be replaced as a unit. The smaller(return hose can be pieced together with a plastic barb.
I have a 98 GT it was underneath yhe car just follow the water hose
To change the thermostat on a sunfire, look for the largest hose going into the water pump.Should be to the left as you look down at your fan. There should be a clamp holding the hose on. Remove the hose and look in the hole that the hose was pulled out of. It will be seated right there. If you need a pic. I have a manual and I can email it to anyone . My email is: jaybird@supercity.ca
It is mounted in the air hose between the air filter and engine.
use a very long flat head screw driver with a hammer and a pair of plyers
absolutely nothing it seems, the light can be a finicky thing, check your ias (the wire connected to your air hose) that's a usual suspect
