Did Sirius Satellite promise Congress and the FCC that they will not raise rates when they acquire XM?
Yes they did. However this was a complete lie. Although they did not raise their rates for your primary radio, if you have a secondary radio on your account, the rates went up by $2 per month. In the past having an account also gave you free access to listen on the Internet. Now they are charging an extra $2.99 per month, effectively raising the rates on the primary account by that amount. In conclusion what used to cost $19.90 per month, they are now charging $24.90. Effectively they have raised their monthly rates by a whopping 25% just months after the justice department and FCC approved the merger with XM. So much for not raising rates. I hope the FCC and the Justice department are reading this.
