How can you stop water from coming out of the cement basement floor when there is excessive rainfall?

Get it sealed. Concrete will weep moisture because its very porous. There are many different kinds of sealants out there and your local home improvement supplier will tell how you the best kind to apply. You paint it on like normal paint and it will make the concrete look shiny like a varnished piece of wood. This is due to the ground water wanting to rise back up through the floor.

Can a cracked non leaky concrete basement foundation wall be repaired from inside the basement and if so with what kind of materials?

It certainly can. The method, however, will depend on the exact type of foundation walls you have. if the wall is made of poured concrete, there are two basic options. The first is a polyeurethane injection method where you fill the entire crack (through to the outside of the wall) with a bonding agent that seals the crack. This works OK, but as the concrete expands and shrinks, it can fail. Also, other cracks obviously can appear. A good solution I like is the FlexiSpan product from Basement Systems. It not not only seals the crack, but also has a "flexible" material that covers the crack. This material is designed for he above-mentioned problems. Additionally, if water should come through the crack - FlexiSpan is designed to correct the problem. If the wall is made of concrete blocks, you have a bit more to think about. The direction of the cracks typically indicates what the problem is. If the crack follows along the mortar joint... typically at the mid-point of the wall - this is a sign that it is being pushed inward. For this situation, there are several options. The Wall Anchor system is by far the best as it not only can hold the wall in place, but has the option of pulling the wall back towards its original position. Another solution is carbon-fibert strip. This material is epoxied to the wall and adds lateral stability. Finally, if the cracks are breaking through the concrete blocks, this is a sign of settlement problems. Research the internet for solutions to this - as there are several. I'm preferential to the resistance push pier system... which stablizes the foundation from further settlement.

Is there technology to repair a water leak in a water line sealed in a concrete slab I heard about running a smaller line through the existing line or pumping a sealant through the line?

Epoxy coating is a possibility for repairing lines that are run through concrete. It is a god proven technology, and is fairly costly, but it lasts a long time, and does not involve removing the concrete slab.

Paint your basement walls?

Even the driest basement has some level of moisture seeping through the concrete due to capillary action. For that reason paint, sealants, primers and waterproofing coatings applied to the slab don't usually work. They do nothing to keep the moisture from infiltrating the concrete. They simply trap it behind the coating. The moisture builds up and eventually, in most cases, the paint peels off. According to Building Science Corp and the U.S. Department of Energy, basement walls and floors should be allowed to "breath" and the moisture allowed to dry into the basement.

Save Your Home with Basement Waterproofing Products?

When the rainy season comes, or the snowy season, the basement you have might be in danger, especially in homes that have basements more than a few years old. The concrete used to construct the basement can become dry, crack, and crumble, leaving spaces where the rainwater and other moisture can reach the inside. If left untreated, it is likely that mold and mildew wills tart to grow, ruining many items stored in the basement. This is why many people will hire a waterproofing company, they use basement waterproofing products which can cover and seal the basement, and guarantee the safety of everything inside. One of the main products used in the waterproofing of basements is paint. A few types of paint exist for the job, such as rubber paint and waterproof sealant for concrete. However, this is no ordinary paint, it is a special waterproof and sealing paint that can cover seeping walls and fill in smaller cracks and crevices. The paint is applied using paintbrushes made especially for this type of job. Additionally, PVC baseboards are used and sealed into place. These can help contain the moisture that seeps through at the joints between the floor and the walls. One of the main waterproofing actions is draining the water. Sometimes, when professionals completely water proof a basement, they will dig up some of the basement floor and create a covered drainage ditch using plastic PVC piping that drains out into the yard and away from the home. This technique can be used inside and outside of the basement. In some cases, if the damage is already done, before using these paints the walls need repairing or replacing. This requires the use of concrete to cover the walls in addition to possible replacement of the walls, if they are damaged beyond repair. This is why a basement that shows any signs of retaining moisture it should be repaired as soon as possible with basement waterproofing products.

I am considering finishing my basement. Can a power nailer drive a framing nail into a concrete basement wall to anchor the frame to the wall?

No. That would be very dangerous. In the US, pre-drill a hole through the framing and into the concrete with a masonry bit and install what is referred in the trades as a "Tapcon" screw. The concrete should be penetrated a minimum of 3/4". Ask for Tapcon screws at any hardware or home improvement store, and follow the instructions on the box.

What can be the cause and cure of water seeping up through the wooden joints of a new concrete driveway and this is not occurring at any other driveway in our community?

If you have laid a foundation fairly deep and haven't 'dialed b4 you dig" you might have hit a pipe, if not try removing the joins and finding the source of the problem once the concrete has dried

How to Perform a Basement Leak Repair?

Basement leak problems can be frustrating and cause headaches for many people. When a basement leaks it can ruin the foundation of the home, potentially result in dangerous molds that can be inhaled through the air, and greatly decrease the value of a home. The most important aspect of repairing a basement leak is to take action immediately and not allow it to continue to leak.Major leaks in basements can be extremely expensive and can sometimes result in needing major repair done to the basement in order for it to be repaired. For small cracks in concrete foundation along the walls, hardware and specialty building supply stores sell a sealant that will seal the crack and prevent rain and soil from coming in during bad weather conditions. The sealants vary on their effectiveness due to the type of sealant purchased, if it is applied correctly, and how big the crack in the foundation of the basement wall is.Many homeowners have effectively used tar with proven and positive results on their basement leaks. The tar is a specialty tar that works as a heavy duty sealant and can work as a sealant for medium sized cracks in the wall. This tar can be purchased in five gallon sizes and can be applied with a brush, much similar to a paint brush in broad, heavy strokes. Typically, depending on tar type, this tar takes up to twenty-four hours to dry. Once the first application of tar is dried, then a second application is generally recommended as final sealant for more enforcement against leakage. As with anything, it is highly suggested to contact a building specialist before beginning any major home repair. Contacting a reputable and reliable specialist will give you the peace of mind needed to know you are not fixing a small problem and creating a larger problem. A reputable building specialist will be able to provide you with valuable and educated information before you begin repairing any basement leaks on your own. This can help to ensure you are working under building code and are completely aware of the current condition of your basement before beginning leak repairs.
