Any Spell book/grimoire/book of shadow made by a practicing witch (current or past) is very real.
It is the magical work-book, accumulated knowledge, and sometimes magical journal of someone who researches, writes and performs their own magic.
The spells are specific to the needs and requirements of the writer, the people he/she works with or for and the specific path the writer follows.
My own library has nine of these grimoires, five of which are hand written by my ancestors and those of my teachers. Two (1 handwritten, 1 computerized) are from practitioner who were friends of mine before their passing and the last two are mine.
The ones I did not write myself are used for research, often I find a bit of knowledge, an herb or an incantation that I did not know before, and I file the information for a future need of my own.
I do not use the entire spells as they are written, as they are specific to the person and need they were written fo, but i do on occasion adapt them to my own needs, when I can.

No. There are no such things as mermaids or magic.
AnswerThe nearest book in the New Testament to this description is Acts of the Apostles, but this is really only about the works of Peter and Paul. Nothing is really known about the works of any other apostles, although legends and traditions abound.
The spell book is in the inventory.
