Yes, actually. The Nazis pretty much tried to do so. They tried to make super soldiers, they could've messed up many times. Thankfully, they didn't. So, right now, there are cures and what-not being made in labs. Acidents could happen, it could travel by air, blood, or even saliva. Therefore the "virus" could infect one of the scientists without them noticing, you know how that is, and they could leave, then infect others. Obviously leading to a "Zombie Outbreak", making peoples' flesh start rotting and give them the crave of humans and uncontrollable minds and so-forth. I think a Zombie Virus could definently happen. Its not impossible But it is very unlikely because for a "zombie" to actually be considered an zombie it would have to no longer have any normal brain activity. The only way that this could possibly happen was if there was an extreme mutation in a brain tumor or something else in side the brain. To cause it to essentially "die" in an effect. But to still have the basic motor and survivability instincts and skills. Such as hunger and thirst. but sense this has never been tested or experienced we don't know anything about zombies and what there capable of. So for know they still remain in scary movies ans stories but someday they could become a reality

In my opinion, I believe it really depends on the "effects" of the virus. If the "Zombie virus" is airborne or waterborne, there is a high possibility that we will all die within at least a month. It is impossible to contain air or water. Therefore, if the virus could travel in other ways than saliva transfers, the only way we could defend ourselves is to shut down our water systems. About the airborne problem, it would be most wise that we supply ourselves with air filtering masks (gas mask to some of us) and to keep in small areas.
