The knock sensor on Nissan 300ZX non-turbo from 1990 thru 1996 is located below the lower intake manifold on the rear of the engine block. To replace the knock sensor the upper and lower intake manifolds need to be removed. It is always best to replace the knock sensor with a new one considering its major dissasembly.

There are actually two sensors there, one is the knock sensor, the other is the crankshaft position sensor. The knock sensor is threaded into the block with a pipe thread, the crankshaft position sensor is held in with a 10 mm screw and is near the center of the block. They are both accessible with the engine in the car, but they are a bit of a pain to get to.l
