You can have someone turn the ignition key to the on position without starting the engine while you listen at the fuel filler door with the cap off. You should hear the pump come on and run for a few seconds then shut off. If you hear nothing check the fuel pump fuse and fuel pump relay. If both are good the pump is defective. If you hear the pump run that does not necessarily mean it is actually pumping fuel. A fuel pressure test at the fuel rail well verify the condition of the pump.
In the fuel tank. Check the fuel pump relay first to make sure the pump is bad.
Fuel Pump is located in the tank, and it requires removing the tank from the vehicle. If however you are having issues with fuel pump cutting out, or the fuel pump relay "overheating" Check your Oil Pressure switch, its a cheap and easy to replace, and if its bad it will shut down the fuel pump.
maybe no fuel in the tank? Check out the fuel filter. Also, the fuel pump could be bad.
It does not have one. Check the fuel pump relay and fuse first. Chevy had wiring problems at the fuel pump sending unit connector on the top of the fuel tank. CHECK IT. It may just have a bad pump too.
First check your fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gage. If it is good your pump is good. If you have low pressure it could be a bad pump, dirty fuel filter, or clogged fuel line. If you have no pressure then check to make sure the fuel pump is getting power (12 volts) and that is properly grounded. If it is then either the pump is bad or the fuel filter is completely blocked. But first you may want to check to make sure you have gas in your fuel tank.
Bad fuel pump, loose fuel pump, loose baffle or foreign matter in the tank.
1) Check Fuel Pump Fuse = If BAD Replace Fuse, = If Good2) Check for Power at Fuel Pump Connector = If DEAD = Find/Repair Break = If power3) Replace Pump
The secondary fault circuit is generally a poor connection in the fuel pump circuit or possibly bad fuel pump. Check connection on top of gas tank and be sure to check ground wires.
check for power at the fuel pump assy wire plug on top or near fuel tank check fuses I'd guess if all the wiring checked out that the fuel pump itself was bad
The impurities tend to accumulate at the bottom of the fuel tank and when the fuel tank has plenty of fuel it can mix with the impurities and burn easily. Also if the fuel pump is in the tank,it helps cool the pump.
Yes ( the electric fuel pump for a Ford Explorer is inside the fuel tank )
fuel pump is in the fuel tank it is remove trough filler neck not that bad of a job
