It IS possible to get your vision back after being totally blind. The circumstances under which this could happen are rare, however. Say, for example, that you were kicked in the back of the head by a horse... this could knock the optical nerve out of place, causing you to go blind. If you were struck in the back of the head again, it is possible that the optical nerves can click back in place, resulting in a miraculous return in vision.

If you go blind from some sort of chemical or other accident which results in the physical scarring or destruction of the eye, it is next to impossible to regain your vision. If you have been blind from birth due to some sort of birth defect, laser eye surgery may be able to give you the gift of sight.

In the context of vision the blind spot located?

The blind spot is the point is a person or animals vision which they cannot see without turning their heads. For predators the blind spot is behind them, but they have excellent front vision. For prey eyes tend to be on the side of the face rather than at the front in the center, this gives prey a much wider area of vision, but makes focusing on objects directly in front of them or behind them more difficult, these are the preys blind spots. In a car, the blind spot is the area you cannot see by using any of your mirrors, it can be seen by turning and looking over your shoulder and is the area between your immediate left and right upto about 5 metres back.

What causes your blind spot?

At the small spot in each eye where the optic nerve exits the eye, they are no light receptors and therefore no vision. The blind spots are to the outer sides of the field of vision and therefore less critical than if they were close to the center. Also, the blind spot in each eye is compensated for by the other eye for those who have two intact eyes.

What does legally blind mean?

Legal blindness definitions vary but most commonly, if someone is registered legally blind they have visual acuity of 20/200 (6/60) or less in the better eye with best correction possible. Someone with average visual acuity may also be registered legally blind if ther visual field is less than 20 degress (around 180 degrees is normal) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- When one's eyesight is so bad that it cannot be corrected back to at least 20/40 vision, but can still see light and shapes, then one is considered legally blind. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Some people have vision at all and they are of cause blind however, other people may always have had some vision or started out with vision that is now starting. There has to be some objective measure for these people which distinguishes them form people with just poor vision and allows them access to extra services to help them if they need it. The usual standard is that anyone with vision worse than 0/200 that cannot be improved with corrective lenses is considered legally blind. In addition, people with a visual field of less than 20 degrees diameter (10 degrees radius) are also considered legally blind.

When a blind person dies can they see again after death if they went to Heaven?

No one knows as no one has come back from the dead that has been blind to say what has happened after death. //I have heard a blind man declare that in a NDE (near death experience) he had sight. For the first time he was able to actually see, once he recovered his sight was gone again. It was only during the time he spent in the 'afterlife' that he had vision.//

What is the blind spot of the retina?

That is the place on the retina where the optic nerve exits the eye; there are no light receptors there. In your left eye it is left of the center of the field of vision, and in the right eye it is right of the center of the field of vision. So physically, they are both inside of center. It is fun to demonstrate the blind spots and it is easily done.

the eyes is located a Little on the sides instead of front. A horse have a blind spot but it can kick real if you are there its in back of it. and I believe on the nose. so it cant see your hand if you have it strait in front of the head (centimeters).
