You could try using the overdrive function located on the center of the shift stick. Turning it on works for faster acceleration/revs, turning it off you will have normal acceleration and normal revs.

The starter on a 1996 Mazda B3000 is located near the battery terminal. To change it, first unbolt the negative cable from the battery terminal and raise the right front corner of the Mazda B3000 with a jack. Unbolt the starter wiring and thread the mounting bolts through the starter. Finally, reconnect the starter wiring.

look in the intake right behind the water intake where it goes into the intake the firng order should be imprinter on the intake.
If you remove the plastic wheel well cover on the drivers side, the sending unit is between the manifold and the firewall (not easy to get to). I haven't found a wrench or socket that I can get in there with but I can touch it.
You have to follow the cable from steering column to tranny, there is a plastic push thing to adjust the endplay, make sure it is not broken or worn out, better to just buy new cable and adjust it during the install
