If you remove the plastic wheel well cover on the drivers side, the sending unit is between the manifold and the firewall (not easy to get to). I haven't found a wrench or socket that I can get in there with but I can touch it.

To replace it, access it from the front of the engine block, remove the fuel filter first and detach the wires connecting to the outside. Unscrew the screws holding the sensor housing and remove it.
