I attended a program in 2009 called the National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Program. It is a school-type program that will allow you to obtain your GED as well as help prepare for any military aspirations you might have.
There are a few things you will have to do to be eligible:
-You must be 16 to 18 to enroll
-You have to be un-enrolled in High school
-And you have to enroll of your own free will
The ChalleNGe Program is fairly strict, but worth it if you use the knowledge and experience they give you. Many of the instructors have served in the military themselves, and a full staff of teachers will instruct you in academic classes based out of actual GED textbooks, leading up to you taking the GED test. These classes include Science, Math, English and Social Studies.
The program also has you do at least 2 hours of military-based P.T. (physical training) per day, and instructs you in Drill and Ceremony. Additionally, you will gain priceless friends and learn trust and teamwork throughout the 6 months you attend the program. You will have many chances to attend presentations from reps from every branch of the military, job corps., and other schools. You will have a chance to take the ASVAB military aptitude test, and further appointments with reps from your choice of military branch.
And finally, you will attend classes of academic excellence, and graduate (separately from the GED classes) with great honors.
There is a lot more to these programs, that, to my understanding, are throughout the USA. Each program will vary, these are just some of my personal experiences. Hope this helped!! You should definitely look up more about it!
