There are no asteroids being tracked, studied, or observed for which any point
in their orbit coincides with any point in Earth's orbit at any time in 2012.
nope
yes, the asteroid tauntless is a space rock which crosses orbits with earth every 'so many' years, it will come close to the planet but no actually collide with it though, (or let's hope it doesn't!)
It came and went on February 15th, it was called 2012-DA14.
No significant asteroid will hit Earth in 2012. Asteroids hit Earth every year, most, if not all disinterate in the atmosphere. Only a few reach the surface. The 21st December 2012 myth is nothing more than a hoax.
First it's December 21, 2012. Secondly there is talk about all of the things that could happen. Although people are thinking there could be a war, an asteroid hitting us, and natural disasters occurring, all of these have no proof whatsoever, except the asteroid will come and miss Earth.
It was in February 2012 about a year before its close approach to Earth in February 2013.
No. The asteroid has passed, having missed Earth by about 17,000 miles. That's fairly close, but scientists new it would miss by about that much.
One already has. 2012 DA14 passed about 17,000 miles from earth on February 13, 2013.
An asteroid might hit at any moment. There is no reason to believe that an asteroid will hit any time soon, though.
Comets are difficult to predict; we currently know of no comets that will be visible in 2012, but new ones are discovered periodically. No asteroids that we are aware of will approach the Earth very closely before April 13, 2029, when the asteroid Apophis will come fairly close the Earth. (But it will miss.)
It does not have an actual name, but it has the designation 2012 DA14
a) Don't worry! The world won't end! b) It is possible that an asteroid will hit the Earth, but it isn't very likely that it would actually cause much devastation. I, myself, wouldn't really fret about it. If the world does end, then you'd die happy. If not, (and it most probably isn't) then everything is fine. The world has been predicted to end many time before this and it hasn't ever happened. And even if an asteroid did hit the Earth, only one tiny part of the world will be affected. Don't worry!
