Yes, certainly. Global warming will cause widespread species extinctions, but also have a serious and generally negative impact on human society.

Global warming causes sea levels to rise. They rose by around 20 centimetres during the twentieth century, and are now predicted to rise by between 90 and 150 centimetres in the present century. So, by the second half of this century we will see coastal inundation, exacerbated by increased storm surges, salination of low-lying agricultural land and the displacement of some populations in Bangladesh and the Pacific Island nations.

Global warming also causes climate change. This will mean more prolonged drought in some areas and more frequent flooding in others. We can expect more intense storm activity. Insurance premiums will rise out of the reach of many.
