yes if you live in a cold area it could help, example, a 160 degree thermostat will open before a 180 degree thermostat, thus letting the warm coolant from the block to circulate thru the radiator and heater core, thus giving you warm air for your heater faster than a higher rated thermostat
The thermostat is not in the lower radiator hose of a vehicle. Thermostats tend to be placed at the end of the lower radiator hoses, not inside them.
not really. the only thing i would change though is the thermostat. Try to get a lower opening temperature thermostat.
To change the thermostat in a 2002 Nissan Xterra, remove the bolts that hold the cooling fan in place. Lift the fan out of the vehicle and loosen the clamp holding the lower radiator hose to the thermostat housing with a wrench. Remove the thermostat out of the mounting and replace.

The thermostat on a '99 LHS is on the lower left side (driver side) of the engine block to the left of the oil filter. It is best viewed from under the vehicle. Just trace the lower radiator hose to the engine and that is the housing it's located in.
The engine thermostat, on a 2008 Chevy Impala 3.5 V6, is located on the lower front side of the engine. The thermostat will have a water hose going into the top of it.

You would need to replace the thermostat in order to do this. Be aware that using a lower temp thermostat may affect your gas milage and/or performance. This vehicle is designed to run with a 195 degree thermostat.

The thermostat is located on the lower front drivers side of the engine, behind the alternator. It is best accessed from under the front of the vehicle with the alternator removed.
if you have a 2.5 the thermostat is located underneat the engine follow your lower radiator hose to it theres going to be 2 bolts i believe it is to romove the housing as soon as you have removed the housin the thermostat is right there
