Dying you hair in anyway will damage your hair. It has nothing to do with the color of the dye. If you dye it too much your hair will get frizzy and thin, if you are planning on dying your hair often and dont want this you can get a treatment called a brazillian blow-out or get damage repair shampoo and conditioner.
You could easily ask your hair stylist, or buy a hair dying kit that fits the colour of your hair, or the colour you want. Use a tiny bit, but follow the same steps as if you were dying your the hair on your head.
well you could try dying it with dark brown food colouring (if you can find any) , but that will only one wash since it will be a temporary, so if you do use it, don't get it wet until you want to take it out. or you could colour your hair with a brown sharpie!
Give it a good conditioning and then wait a couple of days before dying it brown. Be careful what shade of brown you choose, because some dyes are red based which will make your hair fade to an orange color.
