Although Trust Points are intended to be for outstanding answers, you can award a contributor a Trust Point for asking a good question, or any other community activity.
The best way - is by providing good-quality, accurate and informative answers. HOWEVER - it should be noted that trust points are in no way an indication of the accuracy of an answer. Anyone can award a trust point for any reason, therefore - they can be 'passed around' like currency between school-friends (which detracts from their meaning !)
At this point, trust points cannot, and will not, be removed by anybody for any reason.
Answer 1:Yes.Answer 2:No. I would hope that any contributer would trust their own contributions! If not, why should anyone else?Besides, these trust points aren't actually "ranks", they just mean that someone liked one of your answers. It's not the infallible measure of integrity some might think. Also, have you seen how many hundreds and thousands of trust points those who've been around have? No one awarding themselves a single point is going to make any difference to their ultimate numbers. Only consistently good contributions can do that.(Full disclosure: Of the 51 trust points I've received in the past month, one of them was from myself. Therefore, you should only trust me fifty points worth, not fifty one!)
If you see an answer that you believe is informative, accurate or amusing - and you think the contributor deserves recognition, you can award a trust-point. HOWEVER - trust-points are no indication that the person answering is actually qualified in the subject. Any answer should be verified with an external source to test its validity !
You can see the number of trust points you have on your profile page. Go to "My profile" and in the Stats box you'll see the number of trust point you have. You can also see the number of trust point any other member has on Answers.com by viewing their profile page. The number of trust points also shows many times next to the username. For example Marcy[1000] means the user Marcy has currently 1000 trust points.

Trust pointsIn theory, asking questions can cause someone to recommend you through your profile, which gives you a trust point. In general, though, trust points are awarded by other users based on the quality of your contributions to answers. No user earns any trust points without another user recommending him or her. Just asking a question or contributing to the answer doesn't grant anybody a trust point.
Yes. You can give trust-points to anyone for almost any reason. as long as that reason proved to be helpful to you in some way.
You don't earn money but you can earn trust points. Trust points on Answers.com are earned when other users recommend you because they like your contributions. These are not tradeable in any way, but are merely an indicator of how highly-rated a contributor is.
What are Trust Points?:Trust Points enable you to vote for a WikiAnswers member whose contributions you think are worthwhile and legitimate. It is important to note that Trust Points are not a good measurement of how much you can trust the answer to a question. For reliable advice of any sort you need to consult a qualified professional in your local area. Please see our http://wiki.answers.com/about/legal_notices.html#termsfor more details. How do you use Trust Points?:Trust points can be given by clicking on recommend contributor next to the contributor's username, which can be found either on the contributor's contributions page or on any Q&A page where that contributor was the last to answer. Can you subtract Trust Points?:Currently, no. You can only add Trust Points by clicking to recommend someone. You cannot vote against someone. This is something we may add in the future but for right now we want to keep things simple and see how it goes.
