There is a very good possibility of a sales assistant gaining promotion to sales representative providing selling skills have been developed to the point where results are very good. The key is to keep records of your success in sales. If you hit or exceed a target, make a note of it with dates and numbers. If you win sales person of the month, keep the award letters and build a personal sales achievement record to show at interview. Sales people have to be judged on results so anything you can show to illustrate your ability to meet and wherever possible exceed targets will help you gain that promotion.
