Yes...I suppose there are many contradictions.
On of the biggest one is Evolution vs. Creationism.
Science believes in the Theory of Evolution which is saying that all complex organisms developed from simpler organism. Most religions, believe in Creationism, which is that God designed and created everything.
Religion staes what it knows as the truth and sifts facts to confirm its position (discarding contradictory evidence). Science observes the real world and attempts to find the explanation by testing theories that eventually may explain the observations - there are no right or wrong choices on data validity.
No. It is a contradiction in terms to think of freedom without freedom of religion, just as it would be a contradiction in terms to think of freedom without freedom of speech, freedom of assembly and so on. Freedom means not having to follow any one religion, nor having the values of any one religion imposed on society at large.
maximum compatibility with wisdom and science
First of all, the Scopes trial did not play *any* role in any debate between religion and science as far as I'm aware. Science and religion are fundamentally opposed, and as long as both exist, there will be debate between them. Rather, the Scopes trial played an important role in *legislation* related to the teaching of science in school, rather than teaching fundamentalist religious doctrine as if it were fact. The role the Scopes trial played in this was that it made both the public and judicial authorities aware of the issues involved, up to and including the conflicts between the USA constitution and various state constitutions, as well as the conflicts between both US and state constitutions, and practice.
Any link between Roentgen (the person or the rays) and religion.
A:You take the morality out of religion. Without an ethical foundation, you can teach religion during mathematics, reading, science or social studies classes, and pretend that you are not breaking any rules.
== == Religion is all about faith, whilst science is a branch of overall knowledge for mankind. Religion is about belief whilst science emphasises more on knowledge-seeking. However religion is something that cannot be proven - right or wrong and true of false. Religion & Science at times may not be compatible or can run parallel to one another. Just as science cannot prove religion, it goes without saying religion cannot empirically prove anything on science. However, for believers science is part of religion, and NOT vice versa. ---- Thus, there is no way to prove the truth of any religion scientifically. All religions are equally based on faith alone, and which one you choose to follow, if you choose to follow a religion at all, is simply a matter of faith. Religion is the source of all knowledge of the world. Religion is for our spiritual ascension while science is for our physical ascension in this world. Both the disciplines are necessary for the successful physical as well as eternal life. Both are distinct in themselves and hence cannot be compared at any instance. Science cannot reach the spiritual zenith of religion and Religion cannot bow down to the levels to justify the theories of Science. "RELIGION BEGINS WHERE OUR INTELLECT ENDS". The things for which we could reason out automatically becomes 'science' for us. And the things which are beyond the reach of our intellect and power of reasoning automatically becomes 'religion' for us. Science is the vast ground and Religion is the unending sky. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Science can not be used to prove or disprove any religious faith. Science is based on factual observations and deductions drawn from these observations, the veracity of which are testable by experiment: Religion is a leap of faith. Any religion that says or implies that it is scientifically proved is lying to you and as such not worthy of your faith/belief.
Any that have made any positive contribution to the human knowledge base do. Albert Einstein said "Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind" Science cannot go anywhere without the goal of making the world a better place via religious values. As has been seen throughout history, religion without science goes way off track as well. Any that have made any positive contribution to the human knowledge base do. That is a hard question because everything has to do with science but if there is one thing that is not related to any of those things it would be batman.
Sandra Dee was raised in a Christian Science household and this religion influenced her upbringing. However, as an adult, she did not actively practice any specific religion.
