Is there any feedback on 1989 z71 350 running hotter than they shoud?

If the car is running hotter than it should, then there is obviously a problem in the cooling system. Some possibilities include:

Low oil.

Low coolant level.

Your serpentine belt could potentially be slipping and causing the fan to operate at a reduced rate.

Your fan clutch could be bad. This will cause the fan to still spin, but it would likely rattle or be spinning much slower than it should.

A corroded or stuck thermostat.

A seized/worn-out/broken impeller on your water pump.

Some useful things to do include:

Replacing the thermostat (this is the cheapest diagnosis).

Adding water/coolant to the radiator reservoir.

Check your oil level and color (clean oil should be a dark caramel color and not black). Change your oil and filter if necessary.

Flush your coolant system (you can buy radiator flush or have it flushed at NTB).

Check if your water pump it seized by trying to turn it by hand. If it won't budge or grinds that is your problem.

If your water pump has a lot of play or wiggle room it is likely worn out.

If you have a noticeable leak of coolant/water, replace the gasket at the location of the leak. Common leaks occur at the water pump housing or in the radiator.

If your radiator is leaking, you can try putting a bottle of radiator stop leak in the radiator while the car is running. If the leak does not stop after several minutes, you will need a new radiator.

Flush your coolant system.
