When I was a teenager, (1950)'s, someone told me about a gas explosion in a house, that killed a lot of people. I was told it was on Pleasant View Avenue, up Manville Hill Road, just over the Blackstone River, on the Cumberland side of the river. So, I am not sure if that is Manville, or Cumberland Hill, Rhode Island.
Today, while going through some very old family albums, I found a black and white picture post card stuck between the pages. It shows a huge pile of wooden debris, next to a duplex that had it's upper windows blown out, and some facial damage on the siding.
On the back of the post card next to the address window, is written in long hand..... "Explosion in Manville, R.I. on the morning of January 28, 1924. Thirteen in one family wiped out. A boarder and Mr. Conway killed making 15 dead."
How can I find out who wrote this question?
