I have read a lot of answers to this question and tried them myself, yet, none seem to work in my opinion. Grapefruit juice, tagamet and some HIV medications are supposed to (this will be slightly dumbed down, no offense intended) "shut down the enzyme in your liver that breaks down the methadone in your liver. I tried all of them, with the exception of the HIV meds, and none seemed to make the difference that i was hoping for. It did make it VERY slightly longer, like 5 minutes longer, but, the price of the tagamet (or generic cimetidine(sp?)) wasnt worth the price for that amount of effect.

However, there are those that swear that it makes a HUGE difference in the intensity and how long it lasts in your system. I guess its either a mental thing or your own personal body chemistry. Hope that helps and sorry if it doesnt.

Once again, i am not a pharmacist, nor do i have any pharmacological training, so, be careful out there!

Which of these depressants is an opioid A heroin B methadone C morphine D methalqualone?

Methadone is a synthetic opioid.(Heroin is technically an opiate.)Opiods can have a depressant effect because they are central nervous system depressants. If combined with other med's, it can be magnified. Like vicodin and valium. That would be a combination that would probably depress you and put you to sleep.

What kind of therapy do pathological liars need?

"Pathological lying" is a symptom and not a diagnosable disorder in and of itself. The symptom might bring you down one of any number of paths diagnostically. In general, Cognitive/Behavioral Therapy, Reality Therapy or Dialectic Behavioral Therapy may be of some help. These are not the only possibilities. Med's would not have any effect on the symptom, but med's might be useful with whatever underlying disorders might be operating, depending on what they might be.

What is a double-blinded study?

I want to know if a medication has the desired effect. I'm going to give half the subjects the 'live' med, and half will get a placebo. The subjects will not know which one they are getting. That's one level of "blind". Studies show that there is a measurable affect based on the fact that the person distributing the med's knows who is getting the med and who is getting the placebo. So I am going to package the med's and give them to the distributing nurse, and the nurse will not know who is getting the med and who is getting the placebo. That is "double blind" model.
