Toei Animation has copyright over Digimon for the TV series and movie, Bandai of Japan has copyright for the Japanese Digimon video games, Bandai of America has copyright for the English Digimon video games and Saban Brands has copyright over Digimon for the English dubbed.
The programming used in Story/World DS is likely different that its sequels. As a result, World DS can only trade with other World DS games, and Dawn/Dusk can only trade with Dawn/Dusk. Unlike Pokemon games though, you can't even trade between Digimon games of other languages.
yes digimon actually started off as v pets that Bandai described as Tomagotchi(don't think that spelled right) for boys. The series and video games branched off from them.
Digimon started out as a virtual pet in 1997. It was made by Bandai and was meant to be the "boy Tamagotchi" as kids would raise their Digimon to fight and see who was stronger, where as Tamagotchis are for playing games and other things. Digimon is just a bit younger than Pokemon. (Which started as a cartoon in 1996.) I hope this answers your question.
in order to actually CREATE a digimon, you first have to have an "Enviroment" for it to live it. xP That is why the games exist. Hacking games is the only way to "create" a digimon, but it is best not to do so unless you actually know how to program, or you'll just break your computer.
Namco Bandai Games was created in 2006.
Digimon was created by Akiyoshi Hongo. Digimon stands for digital monsters and consists of games, toys, films and video games.
The Digimon games featured on Jetix included "Digimon Rumble Arena," a fighting game where players could battle as various Digimon, and "Digimon World," an adventure and simulation game focused on raising and training Digimon. Additionally, there were games like "Digimon Battle Spirit," a 2D fighting game for the Game Boy Advance. These games were part of the broader Digimon franchise, which gained popularity through the animated series and merchandise during the early 2000s.

yes there is 2 MMORPG Digimon games, Digimon Battle online and Digimon Masters online. Digimon Masters has more people on it but suffers from slight lag But both brilliant games (in my opinion)
