What should you do. Your psp memory stick didn't come with any files what files do you need?
Nothing. The memory stick is for you and the PSP to store data on. All the PSP's system files, the firmware, is coded into its internal memory. You will need your PSP to format the stick, and after that it will be able to save games, or you could load music onto it for the PSP to play, etc.
Can files be recovered from a psp without the memory card?
No. There should be no reason for you to need to do this because you cant save any files on the SONY PSP without a memory stick duo.

i would transfer data from one Memory stick to another by putting the files on a computer and then copy + paste on other memory stick! I have done this as my original M Stick was damaged and wanted to transfer file to a new one but my Sony camera does not read it... I can only read the files on the computer.. Why..? it's portable because you can get a memory stick that plugs into any usb. Since no crucial files are stored on it, You can remove and take anywhere.

An MP3 player is using a build in memory. It also had an 'expiry date'. Such a device will last depending on many times you formatted and copy a files into it. When you deleting a files, it is not 100% deleted because the memory effect problem from the device itself. If the memory is corrupted, you still can delete any files but to copy back a files would be difficult.

What if your memory stick occupies space but there are no files?
There is a few things to this... a 4gb stick isn't necessarily 4gb's as it is an approximation but it should be around it (usually in the 3990's of mb's). If you are reading it on your computer and don't see any files, go into properties (right click on the white of the memory stick window) and it will show memory available and memory being used. If you are reading this on the psp you got several possibilities. You A. have put the wrong format of the file in your psp. You have put the right format file in the wrong folder. Or you got a brand new clean memory stick which in that case go into the psp and look for the option to format the memory stick. About 9/10 you just have to format your memory stick via the psp.
