I believe that was a fat PS3 problem
One way is said to be from overheating another way is that the yellow light was temporarily fixed and has came back. It is not really a problem for the lower power consumption slim PS3s and more a problem for the earlier model PS3s.
Yes they can
they still work on normal ps3s so you have nothing to worry about
no because ps3s have single buttons but 360s have big hollow buttons
While Playstation Home is still in beta format it is available for PS3s connected to the Playstation Network
All PS3s play games released for PS3s.
Yes, the PlayStation slim is said to get a yellow light of death. If your device is covered by warranty, Sony will replace the PS3.The yellow light of death was a problem for older PS3s that ran hotter. Even the newer slims and super slims are better because they use less power and run much cooler. The YLOD is not a problem any longer for the overheeating that caused the original failures, but is still the process used by the PS3 to identify general hardware faultsThe "Yellow Light of Death" or YLOD is the common phrase people use to describe the following sequence when they try to turn on their PS3:Press Power ButtonRed Light Flashes Three TimesYellow Light FlashesGreen Light FlashesBeeps Three TimesRed Light FlashesThe YLOD is a general hardware fault that can mean a lot of things. However, one of the problems is cracked solder that leads the PS3 to think one of its internal chips is not connected or is broken somehow. Cracked solder can happen when the chips get too hot (RSX most likely) and leads the motherboard to start bending, which may crack the solder. Changing the power supply (lower the average wattage going to the chips to lower the heat) and better thermal compound (heat dissipates faster to the heatsink) may prevent this error from occurring. However, if your PS3 has already had the YLOD, then you can reflow your motherboard every few months to keep it working (but it is not a permanent fix as the YLOD usually comes back). That is why caution is needed when purchasing an older PS2 backward compatible PS3 that also have the 4 USB ports and a flashcard reader
no
He has 2 PS3s
Yes.
No.
No you could trade it in, but you can not do any updates or add any hardware or software that will allow a PS3 that does not play PS2 games to be able to play PS2 games according the Sony The PS3s that have 4 USB ports were all made before August 2008 and they are over 3 years old and do not have the lower power consumption of the newer PS3s and run hotter. Many fixes for the yellow light of death like reflowing the soldier are only temporary and your PS2 compatible PS3 could fail as a result of the temporary fix. The best PS2 compatible PS3s were the 60 GB models with the PS2 emotion engine and there USA Model production was stopped in August 2007 and they are all over 4 years old. The Europe 60 GB model did not have the PS2 emotion Engine and had a partially Software based emulation system similar to the 80 GB USA models with 4 USB ports
