In a way the question is its own answer. Too much of anything is unhealthy. Is the exercise part of a balanced life, with balanced nutrition, good work, relationships and lots of fun? Is the exercise an attempt to lose weight when no change in weight is called for? In any event, advice from trainers, nutritionists and MD's should always be taken seriously.

When you push your body to the limit, then it is too much. If you are really sore, pass out, throw up, those are all signs you over did it. Exercise in moderation. Also if you start to feel uneasy then your body will tell you that it is getting to much exercise.

It'd be difficult, but yeah.

If you exercise too much(we're basically talking all of the day, every day here), eventually your body won't be able to recuperate enough between sessions. That'll weaken your immune system and make you more likely to become sick. And if you've already used up all your margins the body might not have energy enough left to fight off the disease, which'll be the thing that may eventually kill you.

Depends on a lot of things. In the real short run, pushing too hard will just get you out of breath. Push a little longer and a little harder, and you may actually vomit.

If you're working hard enough to sweat, and you don't drink enough, you may become dehydrated. Usually leads to fatigue, headach and eventually cramping. Some also experience mood swings.

If you're sweating, but only drinking plain water, then it's possible to eventually(we're talking several hours here) get in trouble b/of salt loss.

And while a little bit of soreness/stiffness is normal after exercise, trying too hard can get you really sore and stiff.

In the longer run hard exercise, particularly with a strict diet, can cause you to lose weight. Depending on where you're starting from, this isn't always good. We're meant to have some fat on us, particularly females. Working too hard and eating too little can weaken the immune system, drain your energy levels and upset your ability to keep warm.

If you are at that stage, and keep working harder/eating less, then when all the fat is gone your body will start to burn muscle instead.

Females who train really hard often lose their menstruation.

There's also a balance between exercise and recovery. The way you get stronger by exercise is that the muscles experience a tiny bit of damage, and then grow back stronger. If you don't give the muscles time to repair themselves, you'll begin to lose strength instead.

There's also the fact that different parts of the body responds differently well to exercise.

Muscles are fairly fast to adapt, tendons and sinews a lot slower and bone even more so. Even if you're eating right and training right there is a risk for what's called "stress fractures" where basically your muscles are too strong for the bones, and you get hurt by it.

While it's good to think about thses things if you exercise daily, also keep in mind that the hospitals sees a lot more patients whos gotten sick through inactivity than overexertion.

The way to deal with this is to have a plan. If you're working out in the gym, keep track of which are the targeted muscles, then cycle your exercises. Legs one day, chest the other etc. And as many chest/back exercises somehow involves the arms, don't go maxing out the biceps the same session when you've hit the shoulders hard.

If you're into endurance training, creep up on it. Add distance slowly, and stay awhile at each interval. Monitor your weight, and what you eat. A heart rate monitor with a calorie counter can be real helpful to avoid both overeating and undereating.

yes! if you do too much exercise you will damage your body because your heart is working much harder and your blood is pumping faster so it is possible to burst a blood vessel.

Because, you can burn more calories than you eat, therefor, not feeding your blood stream enough to keep energy in your body.

Is too much excercise bad?

Yes. Too much, or too little can have negative effects. Just remember that your body has to recover and rebuild after exercise and if it does not have enough rest, you can actually be tearing your body down with too much exercise.

Is Recess good?

It depends on what you mean by "good". I am not familiar with the research on recess but I will guess that the relationship between recess and "good" is hormetic (i.e., an inverted-U shape relationship). Exercise is a classic example of hormesis - too little exercise is "bad"; too much exercise is "bad"; half-way in between too much and too little is "good".
