Not really. Child support is for the care of the child and should be disbursed to the person with legal custody. In other words, you can't have your cake and eat it too.

Is it legal to pay a parent to relinquish custody of a child in Texas?

No, because it is considered bribing, and even if you could, I doubt a parent would give up a child for money if they are suing or have custody in the first place. If you want said child, you can sue for custody of the child. If you cannot gain custody, then the next best thing to do is sue for visitation. It's not legal to pay a parent to relinquish custody of a child in any state! But if the parent in question has a child support award, he or she will be free of paying child support or being in any way responsible for the child from that day forward.

If a grandmother has the child and the parent did not sign custody papers can the grand parent file for child support in the state of North Carolina?

Yes who ever has the child legally can file for child support. But you have to demonstrate to the court that the child has been residing with you and you have the physical custody and you want to keep the physical custody and give the other parent visitation and joint legal custody. This is the fastest way to get things done and a direct answer lol.

Can a father get custody after 14 years just because I file for child support?

Filing for child support has no bearing on the issue of custody. Custody is decided on the basis of the welfare of the child. To get custody of a child, the father would have to demonstrate that he would do a better job as parent. I will add that even if you do need financial assistance, that does not in any way suggest that you are not a good mother. Those are separate issues.

With joint custody do you pay child support for the months the child lives with you?

Yes, this is an overal cost load for your portion of the child's care. It is independent of where the child is unless both parties agree to changes. It also depends on what kind of custody you're talking about, physical of legal? Legal custody has nothing to do with child support If you have 50/50 physical custody, that's way different Child support may not even be exchanged. It all depends on how much money is made by BOTH parents.

You signed joint custody papers with your ex and they say there is no child support but he doesnt get her for equal time as you He gets her on weekends Is there any way you can still get child support?

If joint custody papers were signed stating no child support and your ex has the child only on weekends, it may be difficult to receive child support. However, you can consult with a family law attorney to explore potential legal options based on your specific circumstances. They can provide guidance on how to proceed within the confines of the existing custody agreement.

Can a mother who is being diagnosed with bipolar disorder be forced to pay child support?

The only way a mother can be forced to pay child support in any state, is if she does not have primary custody of the child. If the child or children live primarily with the father, then the mother can be made to pay child support.

How do you stop child support when the child lives with non-custodial parent paying?

File for a change of custody. File for stopping child support. Contact the local agency to whom you actually pay the child support.**Additional Answer**The way the US child support system works is, in a nutshell...A Court/Judge 'ordered' the support to commence, for a certain amount/time, when things were first established with the support agency. That particular Court/Judge is the proper place/ones to contact to get the court's 'Support Order' changed or to cancel it. A Judge will have to 'order' the support be changed or terminated.

If a father has full custody of a child and the court says that they can't find the mother is there any way he can get child support from her?

The court can do nothing until they are able to contact her.

Can a custodial parent get more child support when their teenage children choose not to visit their non-custodial parent?

No, visitation and child support are 2 separate entities. The only way this would affect your support amount is if you are set up with 50-50 custody and the child stops going to the other parents house and you take them to court to get primary custody.

Is losing custody the same as terminating rights?

Not at all. Terminating parental rights is a court process by which you either voluntarily relinquish your parental rights or there is serious danger posed to your child such that the court does it without your consent. Either way, when parental rights are terminated, the parent has no more rights to the child. Losing custody can be a temporary thing and does not change your parental status.

If you now have full custody of the child do you have to pay back child support?

Generally, yes, if you have full physical custody. It's normal for things to happen that way... the custodial parent receives child support payments from the non-custodial parent in order to help pay for the child's, well, support... but really it all depends on what the court decree says, and there might potentially be cases in which the court rules otherwise.

Does a father have the same legal rights to a child if neither has custody in Louisiana and the mother took the child to another state?

No. If you are not married the mother have custody automatically since birth. The only way for the father to get it is by proving paternity in court and he can then petition for custody, visitation and pay child support. Until then he can not stop her and the child form leaving. If you are married she can also leave with the child and so could you since you both have equal right to the child then.
