This is a quite normal behaviour for any baby.
Some such their entire fist. Some only a finger or two. some only the thumb.
A very few does not suck their fingers or thumb at all but this is very rare.
Babies are all different. So are we.
The good thing about a thumb is that it is always available :-)
Intense sucking can make it red and sore. Give the baby something else to suck on as well.
