There are no "denominations" of the Catholic Church. One is either a Catholic or not. A Catholic is under the authority of the pope as the pope is the head of the church. There are other sects of the religion which are closely aligned theologically, but they are not Catholic and they are connoted as "Orthodox", such as the Russian Orthodox or the Greek Orthodox. Catholic Answer As the above answer points out, there are no denominations in the Catholic Church. However, there are historically different "rites" which are also know as Churches, although they are all Catholic Churches. Most of these Rites, particularly in the East, split in the eleventh century, so there is a Greek Orthodox Church and a Greek Uniate Church. The Greek Uniate Church is a "rite" in the Catholic Church under the Pope. A protestant might think these were denominations, as they appear very different, but they are not, and are all under the Pope.
The Greek Catholic church (Uniate Churches which include various ethnic groupings) all profess the Nicene creed with the Roman "filio que" addition and the primacy of the pope. Each of the uniate churches is permited to worship in their own "rite" and language. Some allow married men to be ordained, and such ordinations have been recognized by Rome. Celibacy is a man made rule imposed on the Roman (Western) church imposed about the 10th century.
The Catholic Church has had several Eastern Rites for most of her history. In the eleventh century, most of the Eastern Rites split in two, which half of each Rite remained with the church and half forming the new Orthodox Church. Thus the Greek Orthodox Church has the same liturgy as the Greek Uniate Church, but they are no longer in communion with Rome. Nearly all of the Eastern Rites did this, although I do not think that there is a "Russian" Uniate Church. Anyway, all of the Orthodox Churches are not in union with Rome.
Catholic AnswerThis is known in the Catholic Church as apostasy and is an automatic excommunication. If there is something you feel drawn to in the Greek Orthodox Church, then you should look into the Greek Uniate Church with is the part of the Greek Church which has always been in union with Rome (even after the Greek Orthodox left the Church). You may attend Greek Uniate Sacraments with no special permission, but to officially change Rites, you would need to apply to your Bishop and their Bishop.
Generally, the Nazis looked down on Slavs. However, they made an exception for anti-Communist, Catholic (and Uniate) Slavs provided they were prepared to do Germany's bidding. Obvious examples included the Slovaks and the Croats as well as some Ukrainians.
A female has never been ordained to "major orders" deacon/priest in the Roman Catholic Church, the Uniate Churches (Eastern Catholic) or Orthodox Church
