Well, unfortunately for us Dodge guys...the Vette will win if both are stock of the same year, but if you go "all out" on performance upgrades, you can get ALOT more out of a V10 engine then the V8 vette engine. Then again the "stock" ZR1 comes with a supercharger when the stock viper is allllllllllll motor. Take all the performance extras off the ZR1 and see what you get....one car that got left at the starting stripe and one angry vette driver.
You can take the dumptruck engine out of your viper and you'll still lose. The Corvette is the only true American muscle/race/road worthy car there ever was and probably ever will be. Unless G.M. finally comes out with the V-12 they were working on and puts it in a Trans-Am or something. But I will give you credit, you are much more honest then most Dodge guys. The Corvette is a finely tuned Scientific and engineering masterpeice, it has technology in it that Chrysler hasn't even dreamed of. Go take the same year Corvette and Viper, then look under the body and under the hood, don't look at paint or other things used to dress it up, look at the technology. The Viper was an accident, and today it remains an overpriced mistake. Remember when Dodge raced a Viper against a jet? Those Dodge guys went sulking over to the Chevy dealer when they saw that jet take off and the Viper driver's eyes as big as saucers as the jet past over the Viper easily not even at half the jets top speed. The funny thing is, is that Dodge will try it again every now and then, they spend more time wondering why the jet is faster than they do hauling gravel with that dumptruck.
