Is virol malt extract still being made?
I have a virol bottle in front of me and to quote it says:- A preparation of bone-marrow an ideal fat food for children & invalids
Where can you buy virol?
you can get it at a medicine store such as walgreens or CVS if they dont have it try target/pharamcy

About 25years ago my sister had virol vitamin for bed wetting problem. Now my son 8 years has the same problem Could you tell me as to how I can get VIROL vitamin. It was dark colour paste?
I've not found Virol since, and I've tried 'malt extract' but it's not quite the same thing. The closest in taste is Barley Malt Extract - but the Meridian brand makes no statements about vitamins...

Hi. I am researching the dietary supplement Virol that was given to adults and children in the late 1800's and have learned that it was used in cases of wasting illness such as TB or gastric ulcer, etc. It was thick and sweet, therefore very palatable. It was said to "supercede cod liver oil" in it's effectiveness in treating such illnesses. I don't know if it or anything similar is still available today; perhaps a Health Food Store would be a starting point and also pharmacists might have a good idea of a product which would be similar to Virol. Good luck! Janis My Mam used to give me it in the 1960s and/or early 70s. Remember it well. In a white tub with blue writing on.
Can someone supply the real VIROL recipe?
Vitamins, malt extract and eggs, if I recall. The eggs were probably powdered egg. It was really sweet so sugar too!

Every member of the family, including a child, had to adhere to the same ration during the week, such as 2 ounces of cheese. Children took VIROL, a malt extract, to make sure they had proper vitamins.
